Literature Text

A humming erupted in the cold, dark silence.  It kept at a steady, vibrating hum, but seemed to grow increasingly louder.  That was only because X14 was listening more intently.
The form in the shadows stood on the cold metal surface, looking out of the thrice-moonlit window down in the winding Valley of the Snakes.  It was a quiet place at night, but its inhabitants were most definitely there.  X14 turned when the humming sound grew to a buzzing, and the buzzing to a vibrant fizzing.  With a deep breath the alien, clad in his guard uniform, stepped forward.  He knew what was coming to him this time.
"X14!" a loud voice commanded.  The alien was expecting harsh treatment, but as the hologram of his master erupted to life in the darkness, the sharpness in his voice still caused the guard to be taken aback.
"Yes, master?" He bowed curtly and respectfully, much unlike what he did to end up here alone.
"Are you requesting my affection?" the hologram spat ungratefully.  The man behind it would have slapped the guard if he was really in the same room and not just a metaphorical abstract wave of light. "You know what you have done, and this time it is inexcusable!  All your life we have taken care of you, and this is how you repay your most respected officer?  Would you like to be thrown to the snakes, boy?!" The menace in his voice was unrelenting.  The alien didn't cringe this time.
"No," he said proudly, holding his head up and smiling cunningly.  The master released several more words of anger and frustration, lashing out at the guard verbally, since physical contact was an impossibility.  That was X14's greatest thought of triumph.
As the hologram whirred and moved with the master's words flowing out of the intercom system, X14 neared the machine and, with a wide smile aimed right at his "master," flipped the off switch.
He turned and looked out the window and down into the Valley of the Snakes, laughing.  Maybe his master should appear to him as a hologram far more often.
Just a totally random short with the theme "hologram" for the group #Written-Life :XD: I can't really explain from what part of my brain this came from, so if you catch it for me can you ask it what the heck it was thinking? :aww: thanks!

I loved this! The sheer randomness of it was wonderful. :D
Randomness ftw! :dummy:
